GCJHS 7th GRADE BAND!

Attention all 6th grade students and parents!  As you are preparing to transition to the Junior High next year, have you considered becoming a part of the “Cougar Pride” Band program?  Plans will need to be made by the end of this current school year, as student schedules for 7th grade will be based around their participation in Band, and which instrument a student plays.  During the next few weeks, there will be several important events to give you all the info you will need to know about how to join the Band:

-Monday May 13th – MIS 6th graders will visit GCJHS for orientation, including a demonstration concert by the Band

-Friday May 17th – Mr. Poncar will visit your school to test students on instruments

-Tuesday May 28th – Meeting @ GCJHS cafeteria @ 7:00 pm for incoming 7th grade parents (and students, optional) to find out instrument info and sign up for band.

-Look for a letter from Mr. Poncar with more details coming to you via mail soon!

MIS News 2/1/2013

Spirit Week a Success — A special thanks to Mrs. McClarnon and the MIS student council for putting on a great Spirit Week!

ISTEP News — The ISTEP testing window is fast approaching. This assessment is given in two testing windows (Applied Skills: March 4-8 and Basic Skills: April 29-May 3). We kindly request that you avoid scheduling any appointments, etc. during these two timeframes. If your child misses the scheduled test time, they will have to make up the testing session while other students are in class which causes them to miss further instruction. Thanks for your help and understanding in this matter.

Maxwell Yearbook Orders — Yearbooks may still be purchased online at ybpay.lifetouch.com using yearbook ID# 10768413. Ordering online will be available until March 8, 2013. Please contact Mrs. Kim Schrank (kschrank@gcsc.k12.in.us) with any questions.

A Letter from Mr. Stroud – Mr. Stroud, our school social worker is planning to offer some opportunities for Maxwell Intermediate students to be involved in some groups that could help support them.  Please read the Groups Newletter for more information.
