  1. Morning Drop Off

When dropping off your student/s in the parent pick up line, we would ask that you have your child exit the car directly onto the curb.  Students who exit the vehicle into the drive and walk around their car may risk injury from other vehicles moving in the drive.  We also ask that you be patient and not pull around unloading cars.

Please also remember that the bus lot is closed to vehicle traffic from 7:30-7:50 in the morning.  We ask that you use the parent drop off line, instead of the bus parking lot.  Dropping off a student off by the curb in the bus area creates an unsafe situation for both your student and our bus riders.  If you have a special circumstance, please contact the main office in advance to arrange for appropriate parking or feel free to use the guest parking spots on the southwest side or the far south spots near 500 N.

News:

1.  ISTEP Preview:    The first portion of ISTEP will begin February 27th.  The Indiana Department of Education has developed a website where parents can view sample ISTEP+ items.  We would encourage you to take a look at this site and discuss the importance of the exam with your child.

These sample items can be found at: http://download.pearsonaccessnext.com/in/in-practicetest.html?links=1

2.  Schoolstore.com:  Thank you to everyone who participated in our Schoolstore.com fundraiser.  We greatly appreciate you support.  We would appreciate your continued support by shopping online through this website.

3.  Camp Invention

Greenfield-Central is proud to partner with the National Inventors Hall of Fame for another fun summer; J.B. Stephens Elementary School is pleased to offer the nationally-acclaimed Camp Invention program to children entering grades one through six. Camp Invention is an exciting, weeklong summer adventure with lessons that explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation. Children will work together to seek solutions to real-world problems, turn ordinary into extraordinary and sharpen critical 21st century learning skills while rotating through several fascinating modules. For more information please visit www.campinvention.org, or contact Miss Bradford at abradford@gcsc.k12.in.us, or 317-462-4491

4.  Yearbook Sales

Yearbooks are on sale now! Extra order forms can be picked up in the office. Yearbooks can also be purchased online at ybpay.lifetouch.com using the school code: 10768417. Yearbooks will be on sale until Friday, February 24th.

5.  From the GCHS Drama Department – Just thought you’d all like to know that we are staging “You Can’t Take it With You” next weekend on THURSDAY, February 16th at 6:30, SATURDAY, February 18th at 2pm and 6:30, and SUNDAY, February 19th at 2pm.

Activity passes ARE honored, so if you have one from the corporation you will just need to sign in at the will-call table.  Tickets otherwise are 10.00 for adults and 7.00 for students.  The show will be approximately 2 1/2 hours long, and we’d LOVE to see you there!

7.  Hancock County Children’s Theater Workshop – Applications for the 2017 Hancock County Children’s Theater Workshop are now available from Mrs. Beuoy and Mrs. Addington.  Students currently in grades 4 through 8 are invited to apply.  This year’s show will be, “Peter Pan, A Musical Adventure.”  The workshop will be held at Greenfield-Central High School in Greenfield.  The performances will be in the Greenfield-Central Auditorium.  Classes will begin May 31 and continue through June 23.  The workshop meets from 8:30AM until 12:00PM Monday through Friday.  If you are interested in acting, singing, dancing, art, or theater tech, please be sure to apply.  Applications are due by March 10.

8.  PTO Family Bowling Night:  Thank you to everyone who participated in the MIS Bowling Night sponsored by our PTO.  It was a success, and they look forward to bringing you more activities soon.

9.  Emergency Situation at MIS on Friday:  If you are signed up for our Alert Now system, you should have received a message from us today either by email or phone message.  This message was to notify you that we had a small/contained fire in the MIS kitchen.  The fire was quickly extinguished, but we did evacuate the building.  Students were returned to classes after the fire department cleared the building short time later.  Classes returned to normal and students were dismissed on time.
